Better Than Friends sits in its own lane.

We are a relationship-building membership for accomplished adults on Florida’s Gulf Coast who are ready to meet people in real life again with more intention, more quality and a lot less randomness.

The primary purpose of membership is romantic connection. But because our members are thoughtful, socially engaged and relationship-minded, friendships and professional connections may naturally happen too.

Think less “singles event.”

It's more about a better room, better people and a better way to connect.

Better Than Friends is designed for accomplished men and women over 40 who live in or around Florida’s Gulf Coast and are interested in meaningful romantic connection.

Our members are typically people who have built full lives. They may have careers, families, responsibilities, interests and standards. They are not looking to waste time in rooms that feel random, awkward or misaligned.

This is for people who want to meet others who are also serious about quality connection without treating dating like a second job.

Yes. At this time, founding membership is designed for people who are joining with romance as their primary intention.

That said, one of the indirect benefits of Better Than Friends is that meaningful connection does not always fit into a neat little box.

When you bring quality people together consistently, friendships may form. Professional connections may happen. A sense of community can build.

But the heart of the membership is romantic possibility.

Our process is designed to protect the quality of the room.

The current membership path includes:

1. A personal assessment or survey

2. A private Zoom call to determine fit

3. An invitation to join, if there is alignment

4. Membership payment

5. A background check

This is not because we want the process to feel intimidating. It is because the room matters.

The people matter.

The energy matters.

The fit matters.

Better Than Friends is intentionally curated so members can feel more comfortable walking into the experience knowing there has been thought behind who is there.

Because this is personal.

A form can tell us some things. A Zoom conversation tells us more.

The fit call gives us a chance to understand who you are, what you are looking for, where you are in your relationship life and whether Better Than Friends feels like the right environment for you.

It also gives you a chance to ask questions and get a better feel for the membership before making a decision.

We are not trying to convince everyone to join.

We are trying to build the right room.

The founding membership is designed to help you meet close to 100  thoughtfully selected people over four months through curated co-ed dinners primarily.

The goal is not to simply introduce you to as many people as possible.

The goal is to create more aligned opportunities for connection in person, in a setting that feels natural, elevated and worth your time.

Our intimate dinners with aligned men and women are designed to make meeting people feel more natural, relaxed and intentional.  This is not your typical dining experience.  We select area venues not only for their lauded cuisine, but also their buzz worthy social scene.

You are not walking into a loud mixer and being told to “just mingle.”

The experience is  personalized so you will get to know everyone at the table and have a better opportunity to meet people who are also open to romance, conversation and real connection.

The dinner format gives people time to settle in, talk like adults and get a genuine feel for one another without the pressure of speed dating or the awkwardness of a typical singles event.

It is social, but not random. Structured, but not stiff. Intentional, but not forced.

That is completely normal.

Real connection does not always happen in one conversation, one dinner or one first impression.

The membership is designed to be more accessible than traditional matchmaking, while offering a more personal and curated experience than dating apps or standard social events.

Some of the highlights of your membership include a personal assessment, a background check, curated co-ed dinners and costs and personalized treatment every step of the way.

Because this is an invitation-only membership, pricing is shared during the private fit call once we understand whether the experience is truly aligned.

Because Better Than Friends is not a drop-in event or a one-size-fits-all dating product.

It is an invitation-only membership.

We want to make sure the experience is a fit before inviting someone to join. The private fit call gives both sides the opportunity to ask questions, understand expectations and decide whether the membership makes sense.

The founding member rate is intentionally positioned below traditional matchmaking and more in line with a premium club, coaching nor relationship-development membership.

In other words: this is an investment in your relationship life, not just a dinner reservation.

Yes. Background checks are part of the membership process.

They are included in the membership fee and help support a more thoughtful, responsible experience for everyone involved.

No screening process can guarantee perfect outcomes, of course. But we believe intentional steps matter when people are meeting for romantic connection.

The goal is to create a room where members feel more comfortable, respected and protected than they would in a typical dating environment.

Most singles events focus on attendance.

During that time, members are encouraged to attend as many dinners as the membership offers so they can meet more people, build comfort and stay open to different kinds of connection.

Many of our potential members are not “bad at dating.” They are simply out of practice, tired of the usual options or cautious with their time and energy.

We cannot guarantee romantic chemistry. No honest relationship experience can.

When  you apply, you will complete a personal assessment or survey. From there,  applicants book a private Zoom fit call.

If the membership feels aligned on both sides, you may receive an invitation to join as a founding member.

Once membership payment and the background check are complete, you will receive next steps for participating in the Better Than Friends experience.

The process is simple, but intentional.

Because again, the room matters.

Better Than Friends is currently focused on Florida’s Gulf Coast, especially the Sarasota and Manatee County area.

Because the membership is built around in-person experiences, members should be local enough to regularly attend.

This is not a virtual dating community.

It is for people who want to meet in real life, in this region, with intention.
